Awesome Quotes and Tips that I just HAD to share!!

  1. Banish the word "should" from your vocabulary and you may find you can accomplish anything. By saying you should do something, like exercise, it immediately implies you feel the activity is a burden. Replace "should" with "want" and you'll start to build positive energy. So try telling yourself that you want to work out today and you'll get in the right mind-set to go to the gym, which is half the battle!
  2. Tips: 1-Set small goals for yourself so that you don't become overwhelmed with how much weight you have to lose. Try tackling your weight 5 pounds at a time. When you achieve that goal, then celebrate it! Then set yourself another mini-goal to move forward with. Doing it that way will make you feel eager to attack that next goal. 2-Drink up before you eat. Before eating anything, try drinking a glass of water to help to fill you up so that you will be satisfied with smaller servings. 3-Splurge - Then get back on track. If you have a moment of weakness, that's okay. Just make sure to get right back on track that day instead of waiting until tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or or or.... You get the point!

Next are a bunch of tips that I read on Kim Lyon's website (a trainer from the show "The Biggest Loser).

  1. Make a commitment to yourself to start getting healthy. Even a daily goal as simple as taking a 30-minute walk as a great start. Start small, stick to your commitments, and you'll create lifelong habits.
  2. Before you go to bed, put out your exercise clothes. That way you can wake up and brainlessly put them on and get moving.
  3. Invest in a good pair of workout shoes. Your feet, joints, and muscles will be better cushioned and you're more likely to stick to your exercise goals.
  4. Go out on a limb and ask a friend, loved one, or neighbor to join you in your workouts. You'll be surprised how many people just like you are looking to get started and get healthy. Do it together!
  5. Choose activities you enjoy. Sports and outdoor adventures are great ways to exercise while still having fun. Add a few crunches, push ups, and stretches in after your sport and you'll have a complete workout.
  6. Subscribe to a good fitness magazine. This monthly motivator will be a great source of information, recipes, and ideas that will inspire you to continue.
  7. Make small daily, weekly, and monthly goals to help move you toward your ultimate goal. Write out these goals and hang them where you can see them every day.
  8. Always start your workouts with a warm-up and end with a cool-down. It's not only important psychologically, getting your muscles ready to work at the beginning and relaxing them at the end - but it can also give you focus at the beginning and a sense of accomplishment afterwards.
  9. Losing weight is not just about dieting and cutting calories. Eating the right food is certainly important, but exercise helps to jump start your metabolism, burning more calories stripping away body fat, and adding muscle to your frame.
  10. You can do a workout anywhere. In your hotel, in a park, in your loving room, anywhere. Try this: Go to your favorite park with a resistance band to work your biceps, triceps, shoulders, and back. Do some abs and lunges and squats and you're done! Even in the winter you can cross-country ski, snowshoe, or snowboard. And remember this: FITNESS IS FUN!

I was just going to write these down and add them to my binder that I have. I decided to share them with you all because they're awesome! If they can benefit me, then I know they can benefit someone else out there too!
